Re: Peak Limiter / Expander
Thanks for the cheat sheet, as long as I don't loose it that's likely to be a good time saver. I notice that it says: lin-to-db - same as Nyquist's linear-to-db [but slower] db-to-lin - same as Nyquist's db-to-linear [but slower] but it doesn't appear to be any slower. Is there a reason why it shoul...

Re: Making TiMidity run
MuseScore is a really nice program and works well on Linux. However its main function is as a score writing program. It's MIDI playback and rendering abilities are rather limited compared to other programs (such as Timidity). Here's two samples of a piano piece that have been rendered from the same ...

Re: Question concerning reverse and speed adjusting
Yes it's possible, but lining up the tracks precisely will be quite tricky (use the "zoom" buttons to see the waveform more closely). Also, depending on the accuracy of the playback speed you may need to correct the speed in fairly short sections which will be repetitive and time consuming...

It's been on my back burner for so long it's probably stuck to the bottom of the pan.

Re: Storage Space
16-bit stereo WAV at 44100 Hz sample rate uses about 600 MB per hour of audio. 32-bit stereo WAV at 44100 Hz sample rate uses about 1.2 GB per hour of audio. 300 vinyl (single) albums will fit on a 500 GB drive in either format. You may want to consider using a RAID 1 (or better) drive to protect th...

Re: IT Turntable Stops After Recording 20 Seconds
It just occured to me, is there a way to disable the "auto return"feature on the turntable all together ? There's probably no "proper" way to turn it off, but on the one that I took apart, the turntable was held on by a single circlip (C-clip) under the turntable mat (the mat wa...

Re: Audacity Documents that SELF DESTRUCT!
The manual isn't much help here. My usual procedure is to keep an audio (.aiff) document intact in its own file, open it in Audacity for editing, then export it back to that file as audio (.aiff) again. The manual is highly relevant if the file that you are overwriting is a "dependency". ...

Re: Records only left channel
I have all the settings set as they should be and still only get the left channel using Audacity and Wavepad Good. That's what is supposed to happen. The Samson CO1U is a mono microphone, so it can only produce a mono signal. To set up Audacity correctly for recording a mono microphone, go to "...

Re: Error While Opening Sound Device
The LED light on the mic lights up That tells you that power is getting to the microphone and the LED works. It doesn't really tell you anything else. they sent me a whole new mic with the same issue. Two items that are common to both set-ups are that you are using the same computer and the same op...

Re: Peak Limiter / Expander
Here is the new "Broadcast Limiter IV" using the Nyquist "shape" function. Funny: the audio processing is done in *one* single Nyquist function. I've not had chance to test the plug-in yet, but I've had a quick look at the code. Since you mentioned the (shape) function a couple ...
