Re: Real time recording

If it depends on the sound card on my laptop (Dell Latitude D620) there is not much more to do. Other than upgrade the sound card. I have an inexpensive USB sound card that I use with my laptop (because the sound quality is much better than the on-board sound - particularly when recording). I've no...

Re: What can I record basics?

Definitely go for Audacity 1.3.12. The other version is ancient. Check out some of the Tutorial (see link at top of page or directly below my post) to see the kind of things that can be done with Audacity. Recording sounds playing on your computer can be a bit of a tricky one. The usual way to do it...

Soft-Clipping Limiter

I've completed my "Soft Clipping Limiter" (attached). Well even Steve's sounds distorted enough to my ears if I move the sliders far enough to left This version is specifically for soft clipping and not "expansion", so now moving the "ratio" slider to the right makes th...

It depends on what you currently have.
Do you still have the original Audacity Project (.aup file AND the _data folder)?
Did you export a backup copy as a WAV file? (recommended for all important recordings).
Do you only have the big MP3 file?

The only thing that we can see to be wrong is that "Á"
Are you sure that the rest of the project is still intact? Is the _data folder still the same size as was?

Re: Vocal Remover

The "Vocal Remover" removes anything that is panned dead centre of a stereo mix. As the lead vocals are often panned dead centre with other instruments panned left and right the effect will often remove the lead vocal, leaving the other instruments relatively intact. However, if the other ...

Re: FFMpeg

Have you tried looking at previous posts? It's certainly confusing Yes I have and yes it is :P With an un-patched svn build I'm not getting Audacity to recognise FFmpeg at all (thought that might have changed by now). I'll give the "ffmpeg-av-match-ext.patch" a go, see what mileage I get ...
