Re: Opening/importing files - Network install
The version we're planning to use is 'Audacity ® 1.3.12-beta (Unicode)' That's currently the best version. When recording the data that is recorded needs to be written to a local drive. For a new project this will be the Audacity temporary folder. You can check (or change) the location of this fold...

Re: Input Dropdown Greyed Out
Clicking on "recording multi streaming" doesn't work, either. Did you find that control? No guarantees, but on all RealTek sound cards that I've seen where that option exists, it is possible t record sounds playing on the computer. I can't give detailed instructions because there are so m...

Re: Trouble pasting audio into a third track
I'm on Ubuntu That explains it. The Ubuntu people have been a bit naughty and enabled a new feature "Sync-Lock" when it should be off by default. I don't think that this feature has been documented yet, but basically what it does is to allow you to keep multiple audio track synchronised. ...

Re: waveforms lopped off at top - audio distorted
Sooo.... the problem seems to be ONLY when I attempt to input audio from other sources: CD, wav, mp3. That's what we refer to as "Recording sounds playing on the computer" or for short "Recording Stereo Mix". The Windows Sound Recorder can do this IF... a) The computer sound sys...

Re: Case sensitivity
If I ask it for "/Volumes/Audio Disc/Audacity tests" it is successful (and correct). If I ask if for "/Volumes/Audio Disc/audacity tests" it fails. As a Mac user, do you find that surprising, disturbing, or is that what you would expect? (also welcome replies from other Mac users)

Re: Correct version of lame for 1.3.12-beta ??
The i7 processor is 64-bit architecture, but it can run either a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system. A 64-bit operating system would be required to take full advantage of the chip's capabilities.

Re: audacity error
There isn't a recording device listed in the audacity preferences for some reason. Looking way back in this topic, I wrote: Do you know which version of Windows? If you look in the Windows Control Panel in the "Sounds" section there should be some indication of what sort of sound card you...

Re: Bug in the project is locking pc
One of the things that I changed was some accented characters in one of the track names. Audacity 1.3.12 does not fully support non-English characters, so for the present it is best to stick with conventional letters (a-z, A-Z) numbers, hyphen, underscore and space. These are all "safe" ch...
