Re: Nyquist Did Not Return Audio error

Are you sure that you have done step 6 and made a stereo track?

Re: Lyrics

In Audacity 1.3.12 there is a "Karaoke" view (in the "View" menu) that can produce a fairly simple "bouncing ball" lyric display of text in the labels. If there is a huge amount of text in the label track it will gradually slow Audacity down, making it unresponsive. I'm...

Re: waveforms lopped off at top - audio distorted

If you're getting this sort of effect:

tracks000.png (17.2 KiB) Viewed 1097 times
it indicates that something is being overloaded, probably the recording input.

How exactly are you making these recordings?
Tell me step-by-step what I need to do to reproduce the problem.

Re: problem converting audio in dvd video to mp3

DVDdoug: Please check the links in your post. The website for SUPER is erightsoft.com and not svcd2dvd.com [Update: Links have not been corrected so I've removed them] FFMpeg should be able to import Vob files unless the DVD is copy protected. If the DVD is copy protected then you would need to remo...

Which manual?
Are you still using the ancient Audacity 1.2.6? All development and bug fixing on the 1.2 series was abandoned years ago.
Audacity 1.3.12 for Windows has the manual included (in the "Help" menu).

Re: waveforms lopped off at top - audio distorted

I've re-read through this topic and I'm quite confused about what you are actually asking as the question appears to change from one post to the next. Let me recap and see if I've got it right. You can record with a microphone and it sounds fine, but if you record sounds that are playing on your com...

Re: One speaker's volume needs dampening

With the voices all on one track there's not much you can do - it's "in the mix", like having too much sugar in your coffee you can't really take some of it out. You could try using the "Compressor" effect, which can help to even out the volume across the recording http://manual....

Re: Random skipping when recording

the skipping isn't all the time its only happens say every 3 mins If it's a fairly regular period, it may be worth checking what you have running in the background. We've seen problems like that when people have an e-mail program that checks for new mail every few minutes, or disk maintenance progr...

Re: Re-recording at Higher Volume

There are quite a few tutorials now (see link at top of page or below this message), some of which will cover many aspects of what you are wanting to do. Unfortunately I don't think there is one specifically for recording bedtime stories, though by the time you have done a few you may have gained en...

Re: After all of this - no sound output

It's baffling me as to why this is happening, but one thing that we can do is to restore Audacity to its original "fresh out of the box" state. If the problem persists after this then the problem is not in Audacity because we know that Audacity "fresh out of the box" works (even ...
