Re: Playing MP3 files from the Internet
... I used Audacity to edit down a podcast from the radio, and when I posted the resultant mp3 file in my webspace to link to it on my website, it refuses to play. ... Can anyone think of a good reason why this wouldn't be playing? I've got a similar file mounted on the site (NOT edited w/ Audacity...

Re: 2 track recording problems
There's not bits "missing" but there are clear "discontinuities"
What are you recording from?
Exactly which version are you using? (look in Help > About Audacity)
Which version of Windows?

Re: Silent finder "Nyquist did not return audio"
There does not seems to be a way to reset the settings to default Those are the defaults. Treat audio below this level as silence [ -db]: 26 Minimum duration of silence [seconds]: 1 Label placement [seconds before silence ends]: 0.3 What happens if you just select a short section of the recorded tr...

Re: 1.3 samplerate related bug
Audacity has a bit of a quirky way of dealing with sample rates. Usually it sets the sample rate to the most useful setting for the user, but sometimes it can get caught out. Here's how the scheme works: All Audacity Projects have a " Project Rate ". This is the sample rate for the Audacit...

Re: Auto file-creation while recording from tape
There are two similar effects in Audacity 1.3.12. Both are in the "Analyze" menu. "Silence Finder" detects "silence" of a minimum length set by the user. There is also a "Threshold" setting. Audio below the threshold level is treated as silence. On running the...

It could be easily adapted to add a fixed number of second of silence ...

Batch Scripts with other programs
I'm making this thread as a location for anyone wanting to submit any batch scripts for audio processing with other audio applications. Examples might be batch converting files to WAV using Lame with a cmd or Powershell script (Windows), or batch converting using a Python script with pacpl (Pear Aud...

Re: Initialization Error
For VST support, use Audacity 1.3.12 - it has much better VST support than the old 1.2 version.
If you use Audacity 1.3.12 you should not use the VST bridge.
VST effects may require administrative privileges. This is not something that is controlled by Audacity.

Re: Realtek won't accept USB?
The Behringer UFO device is a completely separate device from the RealTek sound card. You can set Audacity to record from the RealTek device OR from the Behringer device, but not both at the same time. You can set Audacity to play back on the RealTek device OR on the Behringer device, but not both a...
