Re: audiobox USB
As you have posted in the "Compiling Audacity" section we have no idea which version of Audacity you are using, or what operating system (and your question has nothing to do with compiling Audacity). If you can fill in some details then someone may be able to offer some help.

Re: Is a faster computer better ?
The computer should be fast enough to run Audacity reasonably well as long as you are not wanting to work on huge or otherwise particularly demanding projects. 384 MB of RAM (if that's what you meant) is not very much, but if I remember correctly Win98 does not handle large amounts of RAM very well....

Why are you talking about "Sound Activated Recoding"? Where does that come into the picture?
What exactly are you trying to do?
(please avoid using abbreviations - I don't know what you mean by "2cd")

Do you have it set to stereo in the Windows Control Panel (Sound)?

Re: Lost keyboard focus after import (Ubuntu) [patch]
After further testing, with the older patch: #if defined( __WXGTK__ ) mTrackPanel->SetFocus(); #endif it is always possible to start playback with the spacebar after import. However, Windows XP If focus is on the time indicators in the Selection toolbar before import, then focus is still on the time...

Re: Plot Spectrum & Spectrum FFT
As far as I can tell (and I'm not a programmer), the windowing function is handled within the FFT code. The "Spectrum" code just grabs the data from FFT and displays it, but it's the FFT code that does all of the work.

Re: Audacity 1.2.6
The UCA-202 is a simple "straight through" device. This has pros an cons. The advantage is that if the signal coming into the computer is too high, then it's because the signal going into the UCA-202 is too high. Similarly if the signal into the computer is too low, then it's because the s...

Re: exporting sounds bad
I can't figure out how to change the kbps so it's defaulting to 128. That could be why it doesn't sound so good. If you export it as a WAV file, does it sound good? If so, you probably just need to change the MP3 compression settings. In the Export dialogue screen, when you select MP3 as the format...

Re: Help! I can only record one stereo/mono audio track
You've not mentioned your operating system, but I'm guessing Vista? I'm not totally clear about what the problem is. You are able to record a track, but when you try to record a second track the cursor does not move? Any error messages? What do you have set in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices...
