Re: _data file dissappeared! Really urgent!!
'--- BASS COMBINED ---_data' file is missing. "'--- BASS COMBINED ---_data" is not a file. it is (or was) a folder. Unless you can find and recover it there is no show. The _data folder contains the audio data. The .AUP file contains the instructions that tell Audacity how to piece the da...

Re: input levels of audacity
I've never used a Thinkpad Docking Port, but from your description it sounds like the line input is very poor. The UCA 202 should perhaps be more accurately be described as an external audio interface and the term "sound card" used for circuit boards that provide an audio interface and plu...

Re: Help needed recording Vinyl, results sound harsh
Resampling from 48 kHz to 44.1 kHz (or the other way) is not recommended. Those 2 frequencies were choosen on purpose to dificult conversion from one to the other. Have you ever tried an ABX test on that (double blind comparison)? With a good resampling algorithm the conversion is extremely close. ...

Re: Mic works with Skype but not Audacity, using Win7
In Audacity go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" and ensure that your sound card is selected for recording and playback. In the sound card recording preferences (right click on the sound card icon near the Desktop time date) set the microphone as the default recording input - you can ...

Re: [Linux] what is the best configure expression
On Audacity's Developing On Linux wiki this is offered: ./configure --with-libvorbis --with-libflac --with-libid3tag --with-soundtouch I think that is just massively out of date. A default ./configure will generally enable everything that should be enabled. The standard (repository) Ubuntu build ha...

Re: Mic works with Skype but not Audacity, using Win7
For Wind 7, forget about Audacity 1.2.x, the recommended version is Audacity 1.3.12. You can check the exact version number in "Help menu > About Audacity" If necessary, download Audacity 1.3.12 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ What sort of microphone are you using? Does it plu...

Re: Mic works with Skype but not Audacity, using Win7
Ensure that Skype is completely shut down (not even open in the background) before you open Audacity.
Skype tends to take over the computer sound system making it difficult or impossible for Audacity to run correctly.
