Normal 2 channel (stereo) USB sound cards should all work with Audacity provided that they are supported by your operating system. Your mileage may vary with multi-channel USB sound cards as they may use non-standard drivers that do not support Audacity, though you should still be able to get basic ...

Re: Mix and Render -> clipping

By default Audacity uses 32-bit (float) audio tracks. 32-bit float is different from the other supported formats as it can handle signals that a re greater than 0 dB ( only in recent versions of Audacity - old versions of Audacity would always clip at 0 dB regardless of the format). Exporting U-law encoded file using SOX.

This one is from Leland and is useful for producing standard U-Law 18-byte fmt chunk files as required by many telephony applications.

Re: XENYX 1622 USB

More details please.
Where have these songs come from? Is it sings that you have recorded (yourself singing), or something you've downloaded, or something else?
What are you wanting/expecting the mixing desk to do?

Re: when i click the mixer it crashes

I don't think this problem has come up previously on the forum, but I'm not sure exactly what you are clicking on. Do you mean this: Untitled window_007.png Are you using Audacity 1.3.12 (look in "Help > About Audacity" for the exact version number) Are you running Audacity in compatibilit...

Re: lengthen silences

Sorry trickyt57 I've no idea about Macs. You will probably be best to post your question in the Mac forum. I presume that you are using Audacity 1.3.12, if not you can get 1.3.12 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ The Mac (1.3.x) forum is here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f...

Re: no audio

when USB Audio CODEC is selected in the recording entry, the volume control button is greyed out. One cannot control the volume of the audio of what one is trying to record. That is normal. XP does not provide any mechanism for controlling the recording level from USB audio devices. Vista and Windo...
