Re: How to monitor in Vista/ Audacity Beta
Check in the Windows Mixer (loudspeaker icon near the Time Date on your Desktop) that you have the recording source set to the line input and not to "Stereo Mix".

Re: Samson Go Mic (USB) not working in Audacity 1.3
Try this test:
Record something with the USB microphone.
If the waveform is very small, use the Amplify effect on it.
Does it play?
If not, unplug the microphone
Does it play now?

Re: Audacity crashes on startup
I de- then re-installed the latest stable version (1.2.6) Audacity 1.2.6 was the stable version but the developers abandoned it years ago. Audacity 1.3.12 is the current version and I use it extensively on Windows XP. I'd highly recommend it. http://audacityteam.org/download/ With a bit of luck upg...
Re: no audio
It sounds like AUdacity 1.2 may not be able to handle your sound card correctly.
Try upgrading to to Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Ops accidently renamed the aup file any help?
The format of the .AUP file is XML. Each item in the file has an "opening tag" and a "closing tag". For example: <wavetrack> is an opening tag. </wavetrack> is a closing tag (note the "/" in the closing tag) The opening tag will often have a lot of additional parameters...

Re: ipod does not recognise track numbers exported from 1.3.
Hi Dave, No I've not really got any more clue about this than you have. I've heard that some versions of iTunes support 48 kHz files and some have problems. As far as I'm aware iTunes does not support 32-bit files, but I could be wrong on that. I don't use iTunes as I think it's a bloated monstrosit...

Re: Ops accidently renamed the aup file any help?
The odds are not in your favour, but what I would advise is that you make a copy of the .AUP file and open the copy in NotePad (it's a plain text file). In there is all of the information about the project. What you need to look for is any lines that mention paths to files. The .AUP file tells Audac...
