Re: Blank display on Ubuntu Maverick
Topic moved to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum (the Maverick distro version of Audacity is 1.3.12). My first guess is that it's a video driver problem, but on the other hand you're the first person to write into the forum with a locale that uses Right to Left layout. Do you know any other Audac...

Good point waxcylinder, and the sound quality is likely to be much better than YouTube.

Re: Distortion Analyzer
I hope it's ok if I publish the changed version here. Yes, that's absolutely fine, and thanks for your interest and comments. As described in the preceding text , my original Distortion Analyzer was " just a simple (very simple) tool ". There was no attempt to calibrate or provide any kin...

Re: Audio Fading in when playing audio
Some sound cards will do this when they are trying to work out if you have stereo speakers or surround sound. Check that your sound card is configured for stereo playback.

Re: LAME vbr mp3 export wasting space
The THING here is that I get about 10-12% bigger file sizes when I use the lame library with audacity compared to the other encodings, for the same input and the same lame versions (3.97). When you export from Audacity the source data is not identical to when you encode an exported wav file. Audaci...

Re: Recovered Audio Sounds Fast
Was this a recording that you made yourself ("microphone + singing" or similar) or was it audio files that you imported?

Re: How to "normalize" volume of voices?
I got Audacity 1.3.12 beta and put Chris's Compressor in the plug-ins folder. Started Audacity and opened a music file to experiment with. Chris's Compressor doesn't show up anywhere under effects. Suggestions? You've posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum. Note that Audacity 1.2 and Audacity...

Re: Strange noise when recording
if you're using a laptop you can also run the computer from the battery by disconnecting the power supply. this is also an easy check if that's the problem source of your buzz 'sound'. This is the method that I would recommend. In the UK, it is illegal to remove the Earth connection unless the devi...

Re: Record System Audio...??
You are currently set up to record from the microphone. This option is not useful for recording "system audio" (sounds playing on the computer) as it will be noisy and low quality. Ideally you want to select "Stereo Mix" as the recording input, but that option does not appear to ...
