Re: Export MP3 through chain settings
Weird place for such a setting, shouldn't this be set in parameters ? I agree. This has been mentioned previously but it's not yet on the "Feature Requests" page of the Audacity wiki. You might like to suggest it as a specific feature request by posting here: http://forum.audacityteam.org...

Re: Export multiple, load metadata from XML
Metadata support is fairly basic in Audacity and because of the broad range an divergence of different "standards" it's a difficult area to develop without becoming very complex. I suspect this is why advanced "tagging" management has been left to specialized tools such as EasyTa...

Re: Removing coughing
If they occur during silences, then you can simple edit (cut/delete) them out. If they occur over the top of sounds that you want to keep then you're probably stuck with them, though it may be possible to make them less pronounced. The manual method for this would be to use the Envelope tool to drop...

Re: [live sound] putting Audacity between the mics and mixer
As long as your recording inputs have "Line" inputs with a reasonably high impedance (~ 20 k or more), then you could connect the "Channel Inserts" to a half-normalized patchbay. To do this you would need an "Insert cable" ("Y" cable) for each channel. Example...

Re: Samples Altered or am I going crazy
If you want total accuracy, use 32-bit float format files throughout. Down-sampling from 32-bit float to an integer format will introduce numerical differences - this is normal and intentional. The numerical differences may appear to be a lot, but in terms of the sound it is a very tiny difference. ...

Re: Temp files
MP3Split can trim and split MP3 files without decoding them, so less space is required than with Audacity, but you are still critically low on disk space.

Re: Howto improve the sound quality on instrumentals?
Just tweak the frequency band numbers for the best balance of "voice removal : no music damage".
After that there's probably not much improvement to be made.

C:Program FilesAudacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)Plug-Ins
is the correct folder for Audacity 1.3.12
The filenames are in blue because Windows has compressed them.
C:Program FilesAudacity
is your old Audacity 1.2.6 program folder.

Re: Howto improve the sound quality on instrumentals?
With Audacity 1.3.12 you could try the Vocal Remover effect and in the "Removal Choice" setting, select "Remove Frequency Band". This may help to leave bass and high treble instrument frequencies intact. You will need to experiment with the frequency band numbers for best results...
