Re: displaying titles and artists on radio

When I do so Window's Media Player pops up and a CD writing wizzard appears, You're using Windows Media Player as your CD burning software. When I play the CD made in this manner in my car the title and artist appears with each song. Do those CDs play in other CD players? It sounds like you are mak...

Re: Recording problem. No input

The only change I've made since I last used Audacity was to ditch AVG free antivirus and start using Microsoft Security Essentials. Could that have an effect? I doubt it. To record from an external source (such as a cassette player) you should really set the recording source to the actual input tha...

Re: Recording headphones and mic at the same time

I think Pamela is specific to Skype and Total Recorder is a more general program that can also handle Google voice, but Koz has posted the links and I'm sure that you are just as capable of clicking on them as I am.

Re: preview duration

Audacity 1.3.12
"Edit menu > Preferences > Playback"
Set length of preview.

Note that if you set it too long, you may be waiting a while before the preview start playing.

Re: orphaned files, imported audio

I am led to conclude (tentatively) that this is a quirk of 1.3.12 on OS X 10.6.3 when two or more projects are open. For you're information - I've noticed some similar peculiarities (intermittently) on Windows XP when multiple project are open, but I've not yet been able to isolate what triggers th...

Re: Recording problem. No input

Check the settings in the sound card's mixer/control panel (there should be an icon near the Time/Date on your Desktop). Those settings may override Audacity's settings.

Re: HELP !!!!! PLEASE......

It could be. A lot of PC laptops only have a "microphone" input and no "line" input. A microphone input will be massively overloaded by a "line level" signal from a mixer. The input on my laptop is rubbish, so I use a mixing desk attached to one of these USB devices: ht...

Re: Howto improve the sound quality on instrumentals?

The best (maximum) reduction in voice is to set "Removal Choice" to "Simple". This will remove everything that is dead centre of the mix (vocal and any instruments that are dead centre in the mix). The "Remove Frequency Band" option allows you to be more selective about...

Undo mix down channels to WAV or recover corrupt AUP file?

I have just started to teach myself audacity, and made some real nice sound files. Then a big problem came. I saved as an audacity file, then exported to WAV but didn't realise I was importing all channels, I thought I was saving them as separate tracks. So when I opened them I heard them all speak...

Re: Information is not saving in aup file?

I'm not sure if this is due to a bug or not, but it is related to an aspect of Audacity that is currently being worked on. I suspect that the problem is that when you copy and paste a recording from one Audacity Project to another, the data that you copy over does not exist as a file - it is just li...
