Re: Samples Altered or am I going crazy

I don't see how reducing the number of bits in a sample can be "Sample rate conversion"? Who said it was? :? Let me read my last post again..... "(There will be similar issues of minute but incremental quality loss by repeatedly changing the sampling rate)" No, I definitely didn...

Re: Audacity to CleanUp MP4 Video?

Yes it is, but you also need appropriate software to extract the audio from the video and put it back again. Audacity can deal with the audio part, but not the video. Do you have suitable video software?

Re: Why does audacity think there are changes?

It's not a change to the wave file that it's asking to save, it's a change to the Audacity Project. Audacity Projects always start empty, so if you "open" a wave file for editing, you're really opening a new Audacity Project and importing the wave file into it. The Audacity Project is no l...

Re: Recording Enhancement

I often have to record all 40 channels to get to the 15 or 20 that I want... Perhaps a list of channels with check boxes that I can tick on or off if I want to record them? (My particular setup makes it difficult to repatch all the time. Plus, I have 8 RCAs, 8 1/4", and 24 XLR connectors, so p...

Re: Samples Altered or am I going crazy

there was no sample rate conversion going on Yes there was - as you say later on in your post, Audacity works in 32-bit float format, so unless you export in 32-bit float format there will be downsampling from 32-bit float to 16-bit (or 24-bit) integer. (Note that when exporting to 24-bit integer t...

Re: New plug-in effect - PopMute

What was the benefit of linked stereo? The "benefit" is: If the effect is applied to audio with a long burst of noise on one channel, using a slow attack/release, independent channel processing will cause the stereo image to swing violently across to the side without the noise (not much f...

Re: wav files cannot be played back

Do you mean that Audacity does not recognise the files from your Marantz, or that some other program does not recognise the files from Audacity?
You need to give a lot more detail about what you are doing and how you are doing it.

Re: Recording problem. No input

What settings do you have in Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O" ?
What other options are available?

Are you able to record anything with "Windows Sound Recorder"?

Re: Recording headphones and mic at the same time

On some machines it is possible to record Skype on Audacity, but either both sides of the conversation are mixed in together, or it only records one side. Some computers completely refuse to record Skype with Audacity. At best it is tricky to set up and the result is not ideal. At worst it doesn't w...
