Re: Analysing audio and generating white noise
I want to know the average loudness (in decibels) "Loudness" is subjective (for someone that is totally deaf, nothing is loud). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness This topic includes some tools for determining various types of "average" measures: http://forum.audacityteam.org...

Re: Is this possible? Playback track after keystroke...
Audacity won't do that.
Perhaps "MultiPlay" would fit your needs better: http://www.audiovisualdevices.com.au/so ... multiplay/

Re: Old CDs with bad DC offset
Audio from CDs should not have DC off-set, regardless of the original recording.Tikevin83 wrote:Earlier I opened up a few old cds with that warning about the audio being imperfect because of an analog source.
How have you extracted the audio from the CDs?

Re: Effect question!! Please help!
They've used a pitch bend effect on the vocal track.
You can get a similar effect using Audacity 1.3.12
Select the bit that you want to change, then
"Effect menu > Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift"
Set "Final Pitch Shift" to -12 semitones

Re: Windows 7 - "An Unhandled Exception Occurred"
Topic moved. A common cause of this problem (when it occurs with Audacity 1.3.12 on Vista or Win 7) is bad sound card drivers. Windows will often use generic sound card drivers rather than drivers that were specifically made for the exact sound card in the machine. Also, many of the original Vista a...

Re: Audacity to CleanUp MP4 Video?
Which video editor to use is a separate issue from the Audacity version. Audacity will just be used to edit/process a WAV file, the video program is required to recombine the new (processed) audio with the original video image. To extract the audio from an MP4 video file you can use "WinFF"...

Re: [live sound] putting Audacity between the mics and mixer
So what is the point of the OP-amp buffer here? It makes sure the input on the recording device does not get over driven? The input impedance of the Op-amp buffer is very high, so effectively what the mixer sees is the Insert Send directly connected to the Insert Return, which is virtually the same...

Re: LAME vbr mp3 export wasting space
Unfortunately the Audacity CLI (on tests on Windows 7 x64) is up to five time slower than using lame_enc.dll There appear to be a whole host of optimisations available for Lame, including builds that optimised for multi-core processors, AMD processors, and 64-bit systems. How well does Audacity usi...

Re: displaying titles and artists on radio
I think the problem can be easily resolved, but at the moment there's some important parts of the picture that I'm missing, so hopefully you can bare with me and fill in some of the missing pieces. When I save a file I highlight the song after it is recorded on a new project, then I copy, the I open...

Re: I want to adj. EQ while listening to play back?
would it be possible for someone to create an add-on EQ that could be added to Audacity, that would allow us to adjust the EQ on the fly? You can do that on Linux using any equalizer that supports Jack . On Windows it may be possible by using Virtual Audio Cable to route the output of Audacity to t...
