Re: saved files
To create an MP3 from an Audacity Project you must "Export" (from the "File" menu). Audacity does not support MP3 encoding as standard (due to licensing restrictions), so Exporting as MP3 requires LAME to be installed. http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&i=lame-mp3 If ...

Re: Live Recording Too Loud
Unfortunately there's not much you can do about that. The camcorder microphone has been heavily overloaded and it's trying to shut down to protect itself. The damage is not repairable - the best you can do is to try fiddling with the Equalizer settings to try and minimize the harshness. The problem ...

Re: Sound drops after 2 seconds
Windows is trying to help you and getting it wrong. Go into the Windows Control Panel and find the "Sounds" section. Go to the "Recording" tab, and select the recording input that you are using. Open the "Properties" of that recording device and search thoroughly throug...

Re: Can't compile Audacity from SVN on Fedora 14
There have recently been several changes to FFMpeg support. Ensure that you have a fresh SVN source and you may also want to apply the most recent patch from here: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176

Re: Recorded playback has distortion and too much base
This is all about your sound card and sound card settings. Check the recording settings in your sound card and ensure that the recording input is set to "Stereo Mix" (may be called "What U Hear", or "Mix", or something similar). Check that all sound card effects and enh...

Re: Is it possible to....
By the way, I'm regularly given MP3s to work with that show lots of red clip lines. The first thing that I do after importing them is to Amplify by -1 dB (that brings the peak level to below 0 dB) then listen to it. If it sounds OK, then nothing else needs to be done.

Re: Is it possible to....
And is there a way to actually "remove/fix" clipping? I presume that you mean "real clipping" (as in the upper track). If there are only occasional clipped peaks, the ClipFix (Effect menu) may be able to fix it. The problem with fixing clipped audio is that the peaks are missing...

Re: Unidentifiable Noise Problem
It sounds like the computer is sometimes losing the USB connection. If the USB connection is lost then the audio signal becomes random data which sounds like very loud white noise. Try using a different USB socket. If it's a full size computer, try using one of the sockets on the back. Don't use a U...

Re: I NEED HELP WITH RECORDING
Hi Tim, it's a really bad idea to post your e-mail address on a public forum as spammers use programs to trawl the internet looking for e-mail addresses. I've edited your post to make your address a little less obvious to such programs. Has this set up ever worked? Does the microphone work? Does the...
