Re: Automatic effects?

Audacity does not do real-time processing, so no you cannot use Audacity's noise removal during recording. If there is a noticeable amount of hiss on all of your recordings, then a much better solution would be to upgrade your microphone and sound card and use the microphone quite close so that you ...

Re: audacity effects

If there is a little arrow/triangle at the bottom of the effects list, try clicking on it (and holding the mouse button down). Alternatively, access the Effect menu with Alt+C, then use the cursor up/down keys to scroll up/down the menu. Audacity 1.3.12 should work well on Ubuntu 10.10 (I use it all...

Re: can i display timecode from source????

Audacity does not support Time Code as such (no Midi Time Code or SMPTE). However, at the bottom of the main Audacity 1.3 window are three time indicators that can be used to show, or to go to a specific part of the audio. The time is relative to the start of the track, and assumes that the sample r...

Re: NOISE ISSUE

My guess is that the noise is coming from the sound card during the voice recording.
What sort of microphone/sound card are you using? (make and model numbers would be good).

Re: mic recording audio too low

Do you think it's my sound card? That's possible, though I think that it's more likely to either be a faulty lead (or socket), or an incorrect sound card setting. Check the lead visually, and if possible try another lead. Check that everything is plugged in securely - try unplugging and re-plugging...

Why not just use the recording feature that is built into FL Studio?

Re: Audio Recording Problem

The pitch of a track can be changed either with "Change Speed", or "Change Pitch" (both are in the "Effect" menu). "Change Pitch" will change the pitch of the music without changing the speed. This option is probably a bit easier to use as you can enter the pi...

Re: Unable to Open Manual (in web browser)

Every time I click Help/Manual (in web browser) my PC starts installing Roxio. Just plain weird. That's a new one, and yes very weird. Does clicking on "Help > Manual (in web browser)" open your web browser (if your web browser was previously closed)? What web browser(s) do you have insta...

Re: Can't find latency correction

Audacity 1.2 does not have latency adjustment. You need Audacity 1.3.12 (or 1.3.13 which is due for release next week).

Re: dB definition

In Audacity 1.3.12 it's dBFS (dB relative to Full Scale).
In Audacity 1.2.6 I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but it's inaccurate.
