Re: split multiple yields 2 sec scrambled tracks

For Windows 7 you should use Audacity 1.3.12 (or 1.3.13 when it is released later this month)

Re: Capital Z in labels.

Yes it's a known issue with Audacity 1.2.6.
The best solution is to upgrade to the latest 1.3.x version (currently 1.3.12, but 1.3.13 is due out next week).

Re: No Sound Card? Setup Help!

it doesn't really help because in my computer's sound/recording selections are still only microphone & microphone. I'm not seeing a listing for sound card. Windows 7 does not list the physical sound card. It lists each available input as a separate "device". Often Windows 7 will hide ...

Re: Where is the input selector in 1.3 beta?

As to whether the microphone is muted, it is, as you can see below. Well that sure as heck looks like it's muted, but if it really is muted then there should be no signal from it. Audacity does not have its own sound system, it just accesses the computer sound system - that's the same for all versi...

Re: Sound card recommendation

There's some information here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 The best choice of sound card largely depends on what he will be recording and budget. The best version of Audacity is currently 1.3.12, but it is due to be superseded very soon (probably next week) by Audacit...

Re: Converting long multi-track file into many single-track

(Selected audio to ensure that there would be audio before the first silence point, did the Silence Find, and went to Export Multiple, in the dialogue the 'Label' radio button is on, but the 'include audio before first . . .' checkbox remains greyed out -- disabled.) I can't reproduce that. Are you...

Re: Only allowing one audio track recording

Go to:
"Edit menu > Preferences > Devices"
Ensure that the "Playback" device is set correctly. If you are listening through your computer sound card, then it needs to be set here.

Re: Noise Removal - Change the way you say it

I'm not sure which manual you are looking at. The current manual is here: Noise Removal ["A few" means different things to different people. Be clear. Tell us how many seconds you want. 1 to 3 ? 5 to 10 ? 10 to 20 ? How many is a few? The length of the noise sample is not critical. The imp...
