You may have hit the limit of what your computer can handle.
Try mixing down some of the tracks so there are less tracks in the project.

Re: line in

I recently bought a program called cassette to cd kit. What's in the kit? when I go to audacity they say go to the preferences and change to "line-in" Who/where does it say that? I do not have a laptop I have a desktop pc. The last time I posted everyone kept talking about a laptop. We on...

Re: web based audacity

Audacity has been written as a Desktop application. It could theoretically be run as a cloud application, but performance would probably be so slow as to be unusable due to the huge amounts of data that would be transferred between the client computer and the cloud. An alternative would be to port i...

Re: Clicks on VO track recorded w/ music

Could you post a short sample to illustrate the problem. Select a short section of the voice track (just a couple of seconds) From the "File" menu select "Export selection as wav..." Upload the exported file to the forum using the "Upload attachment" forum feature (belo...

Re: Bad MP3 Output

Coming in a little late on this but I reported this problem to the powers that be when they redid the Lame.dll a few versions back (and a couple of years ago) and it has not gone away. Anything that I do that has any kind of orchestration in the back ground has this problem. I went to a 3rd party W...

Re: Too much static

The only reason I can think of is that my computer fan is too loud, or that the mic is too sensitive in some way. Try reducing the recording level, using the Windows Volume Control panel. (Shortcut: Loudspeaker icon found in the taskbar), then speak closer to the microphone. You may also find it be...

Re: Find Maximum and other suggestions

1) On other computers you can (also) use Ctrl+Mouse Wheel to rapidly zoom in/out. I presume the same will be available on Macs with Command+Mouse Wheel. Similarly Cmd+1, Cmd+2, Cmd+3 will probably give you "zoom in/normal/out" respectively. 2) On other computers you can use the "Home&...

Re: no recording device (I have device enabled already)

I don't know if the "not plugged in" bug/problem is what is causing Audacity to not work I'd guess that is almost certainly the problem. If Windows does not recognise that there is a microphone (even if there is one) then it will not be available to Audacity. The first thing to check is t...

Re: Audio Sample Size

If you are only concerned with the final file size, you will get better sound quality if you export in a compressed audio format such as MP3 or Ogg Vorbis rather than as 8-bit WAV. Compressed audio formats will also produce smaller files than 8-bit WAV.
