Re: Wave stats
The WaveStats plug-in has to calculate the statistics in RAM. Processing long files could cause Audacity to crash if there is not enough available RAM memory to load the file, so the length of file that can be processed has been limited to prevent that from happening. If your computer has a lot of m...

Re: Specifying ffmpeg bitrate for importing files
Importing a file into Audacity does not create an MP3 file. The audio track in Audacity is uncompressed audio data. Exporting to MP3 is a separate step. Where is the problem, does it sound bad and poor quality when you play the track in Audacity, or is it the exported MP3 file that sounds bad?

Re: Joining pre-mixed MP3 tracks purchased on Amazon
Yes you can do that in Audacity, but be aware that if you want the final file as an MP3 there will be some loss of sound quality. If you want to burn the final "mix" to CD, then you can avoid the loss of sound quality issue. The loss of sound quality is because MP3 is a "lossy" f...

Re: Sub-second Editing
However in trying to set the points to cut, Audacity only seems to move in full second increments I bet you're not really using Audacity 1.2 (you've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum). I bet you're using Audacity 1.3.x and you have a tick in the box near the bottom of the main Audacity...

Re: Suggestions for bundled GVerb plugin
Unfortunately I'm not a programmer or I would have done so long ago. We do not compile GVerb for the Audacity source distro. I could not find the source code nor could I find any non-Audacity based support site. Do you have the source or know someone who does? In the updated "Release Process/W...

Re: any other way besides a mic to record?
is it advisable to record in the bathroom? Usually no. Bathrooms tend to be very echoey (reverberant). It is easy to add reverberation ("reverb", "delay" or "echo" effects) to a recording. It's almost impossible to remove unwanted echoes / reverberation. For this reaso...

Re: getting music to windows media player
You need to "Export" from Audacity to create an audio file.
Read this, it's really important if you want to avoid major problems such as loosing work:

Re: 1.3.13 RC1 won't run on Win 2k
I can see your point AlanHK, and in part I agree. I think the problem is that Audacity 1.3 has been "in beta" for far too long. There should have been a new "stable" release years ago (possibly around the time of Audacity 1.3.4) but there wasn't. I think that it's quite understan...

Re: All my Sound Cards Produce Some Form of DC Offset
We did a shoot-out a while ago and the tool in Normalize won. High pass filtering will not remove the damage at the beginning and end of a piece. Normalize-DC will. I thought it was a draw ;) High-pass filtering will not remove the damage at the beginning of the piece (it does remove DC off-set rig...
