Re: Notch Filter Preference and Tinnitus

Unfortunately Audacity does not currently support batch processing with "Nyquist effects", and the band-stop filter mentioned previously is a Nyquist effect. However, you can achieve a partial band-stop effect by using the Equalizer effect (also described in this topic) and the Equalizer e...

Re: Export creates 0 KB file

For use with an iPhone I'd suggest that you just export from Audacity as a WAV file, then use iTunes to convert the WAV to M4A and synchronise you iPhone. Apple has a few quirks of its own about AAC files, so I think iTunes would be the best program for doing the encoding. Here's some information on...

Re: Latency issue in 1.2

Audacity 1.2.x does not have latency adjustment. That's one of the features that was introduced in the 1.3 series.
I'd recommend that you install Audacity 1.3.13 (the latest 1.3.x version). If you still have trouble with it, let us know and we'll try to get you up and running.

Re: Adjust default vertical height display

A single stereo track will usually fit with ease on the default layout. Are you using a tiny screen?

You can set Audacity to automatically "fit to screen" in Preferences:
"Edit menu > Preferences > Tracks"

Re: Pitch shift crashes audacity

Linux generally packages a recent 1.3.x version, mostly because it is considerably more stable on Linux than the old 1.2.6 version. What's the exact version of Audacity that you have (look in "Help menu > About Audacity") Which exact "pitch shift" effect are you using (there is n...

Re: Ringtone volume

The setting in my last post are a suggested starting point for Compressor first followed by Soft Clipping Limiter.
You will need to experiment to find the best settings.

Post back when you've experimented and let us know which settings you eventually decide on.

Re: changing one's voice characteristics

"TextAloud" is a voice synthesizer for Windows that supports a huge range of 3rd part voices, including "AT&T Natural Voices". The basic price is about $30, but additional high quality voices are extra. There's a load of demo samples here: http://www.nextup.com/index.html Eve...

Re: changing one's voice characteristics

I've tried changing the pitch but it sounds unnatural. Yes, that's exactly the problem. A small change to pitch can work quite well, but large changes will sound unnatural for a couple of reasons: 1) Stretching audio is a "lossy" process - there's always some loss of sound quality because...
