Re: Will not start; says program already running

First thing: try rebooting and see if that makes any difference. If that makes no difference, check that you uninstalled 1.2.x and not 1.3.x (look in "Program Files" and see which version has been deleted). Assuming that you uninstalled 1.2.6, see here for running Audacity in compatibility...

Re: Regular Interval Labels enhancements

That looks like a bug in Audacity 1.3.3. In both of those screen shots the interface has failed to start a new line after an empty "right text" for "multiple choice widgets". The release notes say that in Audacity 1.3.4 "Nyquist plug-ins reviewed and enhanced", so it ma...

Re: Regular Interval Labels enhancements

Can we agree on "Adjust label interval to fit length" ? Yes, that sounds good. We know Regular Interval Labels is version 3 so won't be visible in Audacity 1.2, but it looks like the "min version" (for all platforms) would be 1.3.5. Although it's functional in 1.3.3, the interfa...

Re: Recording Problems from Audio tape to Audacity

With the tape playing and Audacity "recording", is there any movement on the (red) recording meter? Does a new track appear in Audacity? Do you see a squiggly blue line appear in that track, or a horizontal flat blue line? Are you sure the volume is turned up on the Walkman? In the "T...

Re: Audio Spectrum Analysis

Steve, I'm using Audacity 1.3 beta Oh yes, I see that. Is that on Windows XP? (not that it matters) You can increase the detail by: a) Making the window bigger b) Increase the "Size" parameter c) Set the "Axis" to "Log frequency" Unfortunately I don't think that it wil...

Re: MP3 file too big to send

The File Export options are now in the Export dialogue screen (no longer any need to go digging into the Preferences for them).

File menu > Export
Select the file format type and any other options.

See here for full details: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/File_Export_Dialog

Re: Text output for basic visualisation

Note also that dB values will be negative.
0 dB is the maximum (full scale) level of a signal.
Silence is -inf (minus infinity) dB.

Re: Text output for basic visualisation

Try running this in the Nyquist Prompt effect. Open Audacity and import your mono audio file. If the file is not mono, convert it to mono. With the track selected, select "Nyquist Prompt" from the Effect menu. Copy and paste this code into the Nyquist Prompt window. Click on the "Debu...
