Re: Signal to Noise Ratios / Intensity Normalisation

all sound stimuli were normalized to the same decibel level, such that all ‘‘noise-word’’ and ‘‘noise-alone’’ stimuli were matched on sound level. That is horribly vague. :D I need an objective measure of loudness - I assume sound pressure measured in decibels would suffice. "Loudness" is...

Re: Removing feedback when transferring from tape to compute

Could it be that it's opening somehow in the "background" or out of the "working space"? I was also thinking that the prompt box may be "off screen" somewhere, but if that were the case then it would be open (just not visible) and would lock out further functioning of ...

Yes, but I'm fair with my criticism - I dislike Windows Media Player just as much :D

Re: Data lost bug - workaround?

There's quite a few questions bundled into this post - let's see if I can separate this tangled web a little. Data lost when copy/paste between Projects. This seems to be the main problem here. Yes I have seen this problem in some older versions of Audacity 1.3 beta. There has been some recent major...

Re: Signal to Noise Ratios / Intensity Normalisation

The main problem here is the word "intensity". What exactly do you mean? "Intensity" could mean: Peak level Average peak level RMS level Maximum RMS level with a specified window size Band limited peak or RMS measurement Any of the above while ignoring silences between words Loud...

Re: low db input signal

When I'm recording in Serato it will safe as AIFF format (mac format) and my operating system is Vista. I'tryed to convert the format in cool edit but it still gives one large beep. When you record in Serato, are you able to play back the recording in Serato? Can you open the AIFF file in Serato an...

Re: Laming problem in 1.3 beta

OK, here's an alternative build of Lame for you to try:
lame_enc.dll (3.98.2) without manifest

Delete or rename your current version of lame_enc.dll and put this new version into the Audacity folder, then open Audacity.

Re: Undesirable Noises

Try making a recording while running the laptop from batteries and see if that makes a noticeable improvement. Power supplies will often produce a lot of electrical noise, and we can't do anything about that other than advise that you run from batteries when doing audio work. If that does not solve ...

That's very strange.

Nyquist effects are obviously installed and enabled as the High-pass filter is a Nyquist plug-in.
Is the "Nyquist Prompt..." option in the Effect menu greyed out?

Re: Envelope tool "points"

There are already quite a few Feature Requests about the Envelope Tool on the wiki http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Feature_Requests Do you wish to add your vote to any of them? My preference for "Shift+Click" with the Envelope tool would be for linear fades. (better still, have "lin...
