Re: Recording problem

Try changing the "host" from WASAPI to MME in the Device Toolbar.

If you have been using an ASIO application (such as a commercial DAW), you "may" need to reboot your computer to allow non-ASIO applications to access the audio device.

Re: How to reverse and change speed in one effect

Do I have an outdated version of the program? Looks like it is. To see the full version number, look in "Help menu > About Audacity". The current version is Audacity 2.4.2: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ In your version, "Use Custom Mix" is the same as "Use ...

Re: Can't open aup file

Unfortunately that file is totally corrupted. Recovery is not possible.

This is less likely to occur with the current Audacity 2.4.2, though you should still take care to ensure that Audacity projects are saved and quit Audacity before shutting down the computer.

Try using "Rescan Audio Devices" from the "Transport" menu, then check your settings in the Device Toolbar.

Re: Problem recording

Removing echoes from a recording is near impossible. You could look for a "deverb" plug-in effect which "may" make some improvement, but their effectiveness is very limited. The problem is that the echo is basically the same voice overlapping the original, just delayed a little. ...

Re: How can I remove noise caused by setting my mic's gain too high?

From what I figure, it should be fairly simple to remove those bussing sounds No, it's virtually impossible to repair clipped audio. If the clipping (loss of waveform peaks) is bad enough to sound like buzzing, then I'd say that it is irreparable. If the clipping is very minor, then the " Clip...

Re: Can't open aup file

I suspect that the .AUP file may be damaged. If you attach the AUP file to your reply I will check it. (See: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936) I have windows10 and use audacity 2.3.0 The current version of Audacity is 2.4.2. I would highly recommend updating at your earl...
