Re: Noise with very low sound music
The on-board sound card in my laptop is rubbish. Playback is not too bad, but the recording quality is terrible. Consequently, I use a Behringer UCA 202 USB sound card and the audio quality is very much better (line-in recording and line out only).

Re: HELP - set up to RECORD streaming on Audacity Beta probl
How do I set Audacity up to record directly (internally) what my laptop is receiving off the internet instead of going via the mic? It looks like your computer does not support the "Stereo Mix" option, so you are left with the various workarounds described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.o...

Re: Staticy Podcast
How high is the recording level? If the blue waveform on the track is hitting the top/bottom of the track then you have recorded too loud and caused "clipping distortion". This is usually very difficult to repair satisfactorily and it is better to re-record it. A good recording level will ...

Re: Adding L and R channels together ???
Just selecting mono input in Audacity will not sum your L&R channels together. I don't think that is always true. Most USB sound cards will record only the left channel if you select "1 channel (mono)" in Audacity, but I think that some internal sound cards will mix left and right inp...

Re: Multi Track Editing
If I have audio clips in a Project that I want to use in other Projects, my preferred way of working is to Export those clips as WAV files. The WAV files can then be used easily in any other Projects by Importing them, or just drag and drop the WAV file onto the new Project.
