You need to have a value for each "sample". If for example you have 8000 samples every second and each sample is a value on the scale of 0000 to FFFF (16-bit), then you can import it as raw data by setting the encoding to "signed 16-bit" and the sample rate to 8000 Hz. See here f...

Select either "Samples" or "hh:mm:ss + samples" as the time format.
Ensure that "Snap to" is not selected.

BSOD when recording is virtually always a sign of a driver problem. The "correct" solution would be to fix the drivers (most likely the sound card drivers), but if everything else is working correctly it may be easier to work around the problem. Open Audacity 1.2.6 and make a note of the f...
