Windows 7 is a lot less friendly about recording than the old XP (one of the reasons that I stopped using Windows at home).

What exactly do you mean? Are you wanting to record sounds that are playing on your computer (for example, streaming audio from the Internet)?

"Preset: Standard" is recommended for reasonably good quality stereo music (same as VBR "V2")
