Re: Why can't Audicity simply record *without the HISS*!?
"Hand held style" microphones can be OK, but you will need 2 of them (one each). When recording through the Multimix you could pan one microphone to the left and the other to the right, then after recording you can split the stereo track into 2 mono tracks, which will give you mostly one v...

Re: Noise Removal - problems with fading in and out...
You may have used Noise Removal too aggressively.
You could post a short sample (WAV or Flac format, up to about 6 seconds total duration) to see if anyone can produce better quality.
Ensure that the sample includes a couple of seconds of "noise only" and some "normal" speech.

Re: My computer or Audacity
No, I mean, I never had this problem on the older version of Audacity. Still using the same computer with the same operating system... Thanks for clearing that up. ;) I would expect that your computer will be fast enough to run Audacity 1.3.13, unless it is already struggling just to run Windows. H...

Re: Selection accuracy, lengths in 10ths of a milisecond?
Left end of the track in the "Track Control Panel", below the track name, it will say "mono" or "stereo" followed by the track sample rate. If the sample rate is 44100 Hz, then there are 44100 samples every second. If the track sample rate is 48000 Hz, then there are 48...
