Re: What are the Audio Track vertical scale #s?
Short answer: It's just a linear scale from +1 to -1. Longer answer: In 32-bit (float) format (which is how Audacity represents digital audio data), 0 dB is equivalent to a sample value of +/- 1.0 This linear scale represents the numerical value of the samples. To see a dB scale, click on the name o...

Re: interpolate spurious zero amplitude samples
What was the sound quality of the video like before conversion?
Does the audio now sound worse?

Thanks for the fascinating and detailed reply Edgar.

Re: Cheap USB Simultaneous Multitrack Recording
OK I've had another look at this. In current versions of Jack there's a couple of tools called "alsa_in" and "alsa_out". These allow the input/outputs of additional sound cards to be available in Jack in addition to the current device. For example, I have an internal sound card (...

Re: Cheap USB Simultaneous Multitrack Recording
Jack only supports one device. To use multiple devices with jack you need to create a virtual device out of multiple sound cards: http://www.jrigg.co.uk/linuxaudio/ice1712multi.html (I've not got this to work)

Re: New/improved plug-ins for potential inclusion in Audacit
I like the fact that the "Easy Vocoder" is a one step "press the button" effect, but I don't think it can replace the previous "Vocoder" effect because of the lack of alternative carriers. How about combining the effects but dropping some of the options from the origina...

Re: Audacity crash when loading MP3
The official package does not support MP3 something about license Have you tried importing MP3 files with the official package? I'm aware that several Linux distributions rip out support for exporting MP3, but I don't know why they should rip out support for importing MP3 as I think importing is do...
