Re: Audacity recording over itself?

(It would be nice if this forum added Post #'s to help people reference things...) We used to have a nice "POST" button, but it changed after an update and is now that little grey rectangle ("page" icon?) just to the left of the post author's name. You can right click on that an...

Re: Who decides if a thread is "solved" and closed?

All of the moderators have the power to close topics when they reach a conclusion. We very much prefer to have one issue per thread. Due to the technical nature of this forum, it quickly becomes very confusing when there are multiple issues added into one thread. Your post here looks very much like ...

Re: Moderator approval

All posts from new user accounts are held in a moderator queue. This has sadly become necessary due to the massive number of spam posts. Obviously I can't go into details that would enable spammers to work around the spam prevention measures.

Re: how to record the 2nd track with vocal only

Which version of Audacity? (Look in "Help menu > About Audacity") What sort of mic are you using, and how is it connected to your computer? What settings are you using in the Device Toolbar ? In the "Transport menu > Transport Options", ensure that "Overdub" is on (sele...

(BTW: When I did that, the track that contained the split-out part disappeared - what if I didn't want it to disappear?)
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but perhaps "Mix and Render to New Track" rather than "Mix and Render".
