Re: Converting a 32 bit Float file to 16 bit.......?
Try this: Before Importing the new file, use "File menu > Save As" to save the project with a new name (for example, "C:UsersleeMusicfirst-comes-v02") Close Audacity. Double click on the new "first-comes-v02.aup" project file to open it. Import a known good audio (WAV) ...
Re: Vocals
Probably, though I'd highly recommend that you use Audacity 1.3.13 rather than the old 1.2 version.

Re: Audacity randomly deleting some of my audio
Audacity 1.3.11 is a little out of date now. Although I don't think this is related to the problem (at the moment), it is worth updating to 1.3.13 (just install it over the top of your current installation). http://audacityteam.org/download/ Was the Audacity Project made from one long (imported) aud...

Re: Converting a 32 bit Float file to 16 bit.......?
Before you save the project, if you click the "Solo" button on the new imported track, does it play? Where are you saving the project to? (the drive letter and full path) How exactly are you saving the project? (what do you click on and what keys do you press and what do you type? What nam...

Re: What have I done now ???
To create a normal audio file you must "Export".
The "Save" function saves an "Audacity Project" which is not a normal audio file.

Re: Vocals isolation
If you're really using Audacity 1.2.x, I'd highly recommend that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 You can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ (Audacity 1.2. is very old now. Audacity 1.3.13 is a lot better). It is often not possible to isolate vocals, even if you have both the "fu...

Re: Converting a 32 bit Float file to 16 bit.......?
I have an Audacity Project in Audacity 1.3.13. There are 4 sections of audio in 4 stereo tracks, that are end-to end with 3 second cross-fades between each track. Each track is about 3 minutes long and the total project length is just under 12 minutes. I check that there are no dependencies (File m...

Re: volume control in recording is grey (inactive)
You probably can't. The slider is only available if Audacity has proper control of the system input slider. Whether or not Audacity does have proper control depends on the version of Audacity, your operating system, the type of sound card that you are using and the sound card drivers. To take care o...

Re: Converting a 32 bit Float file to 16 bit.......?
I don't understand what you mean by the phrase "connect a track".
I've got Audacity 1.3.13
I've got a bunch of WAV files.
What do I need to do, step-by-step, to reproduce the problem?
Take your time when describing this, too much information is better than not enough.

Re: Messed Up Vinyl
I'm with Bill on that too, but I quite understand if GBleaney wants to avoid having to re-record 24 hours worth of vinyl. If the recording are "not too bad" I'd also be tempted to try and hack together a quick fix rather than spend the next three days of my life redoing something that I'd ...
