Great, that explains the problem. That file is not an audio (WAV) file, it's part of an "Audacity Project". There's 2 parts to an Audacity Project, there's the audio data (often in the _data folder) and there's a small .AUP file that tells Audacity what to do with all of the bits of data. ...

Actual "sound quality" depends more on the hardware (microphone, sound card, recording space...) than on the software. The 1.3.13 has a lot more useful features for "producing" the recording than the old 1.2.6 version. 1.3.13 is also generally more stable on modern computers. I t...
