Re: RECORDING LOW BACKGROUND MUSIC W/ VOICE
What could I do, what effect could I apply only to the music track, to do the opposite of BOOSTING the volume, to reduce the gain to make it less loud even before I mix it with the voice? Use the "Amplify" effect, but enter a negative value. Try amplifying the music by -20 dB (minus twent...

Re: Fine 'Change Speed' Effect?
A speed change of 0.092% will compress a 4 minute track by 221 ms. If that's not accurate enough, just compress part of the track by a further 0.001%, but it begs the question why do you need to compress a track to greater accurately than 1 millisecond over 4 minutes?

Re: Digitalfishphones.com PLUG INS w/ Audacity
when I click on Effects, I see Compressor, and I think it's a built-in effect. Yes it is. There is a section in the manual about how to use it, but it's more complicated than I would like it to be. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Compressor The Compressor effect in Audacity 1.3 is pretty good, t...

Re: Ram to Mp3 etc...
Audacity does not support "Real Audio" format.
Is there a hidden question in there, such as "How do I play Real Audio files without installing evil software?"

Re: Digitalfishphones.com PLUG INS w/ Audacity
If the object of the exercise is to make the track louder, then probably the easiest effect to use is "soft clipping". What this effect does is to "squash" peaks that are above the threshold level that you set, and so allow more room for amplification. It differs from the bad dig...

Re: Normalize
This was a go-around much earlier when it was proposed that 10Hz High Pass Filter (for example) was good for everything. It's not. That won't remove the error in the first and last portion of the show, since at that exact instant, the "DC Level" has energy above 10 Hz and will produce a c...

Hm, I tried to post this already but it looks like it didn't show up.. Due to the amount of spam we have had to introduce a "moderation queue" so that messages do not appear on the forum until they have been seen by one of the forum helpers. Posts will normally be approved pretty quickly ...

Re: Clean Up background noise, etc
There's probably not much you can do other than cutting out frequencies above and below the frequencies of the voices. This will make it sound like it's on a bad quality telephone line, but it may make the speech a bit more intelligible. Use the Equalizer effect set to something like this to cut out...

Re: how i can record with karaoke
Providing your "karaokes" are in a format that Audacity understands, you can Import them into Audacity and record your voice over the top, much in the same way as described for making a music and voice podcast: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Creating_a_simple_voice_and_music_Podcast_wit...
