Re: wrong samplerate in au-files off project

Audacity data files (.AU) do not have a specified sample rate. The sample rate is set by the AUP file, so I don't know what files you are analysing, but if they say what the sample rate is in the header, then they are not Audacity data files. If you "Import" existing audio files into Audac...

Re: Input Level Meter Grayed Out - Wasn't Before!

I think on my old drive I had installed Audacity 1.3.12. Now I have 1.3.13. Could this be the reason why the recording input is grayed out now? Personally, I don't think so, but don't really know. Re: any ideas on how to increase volume w/out distortion?

More compression.
Try the compressor in Audacity 1.3.13 and use the "based on peaks" option. with a fast attack/decay. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Compressor

Re: low quality

So it's a playback problem for all sound on your computer?

Check the wiring to your speakers/headphones.
Try a different pair of headphones.
Any difference?

Re: Duplicate left channel to right

You will probably need to manually add the path to SoX in your environmental variables (or always change to the SoX directly before launching it).

Re: Playback noise when overdubbing!

Recently I had to reinstall Audacity. Why was that? I don't think it's a set-up problem with Audacity. It sounds more like a data bottleneck somewhere. Try defragmenting the hard drive, rebooting then turning off all non-essential programs /processes and see if that makes any difference. Have you i...
