Re: Flatline tracks – Audacity 2.3.3 on Os X 10.15.6

I'm just going to start again and keep saving. Tip: With important jobs I will use a naming scheme to create a series of backup "restore points" (using "Save Project As...") MyProject001.aup MyProject002.aup MyProject003.aup ... This requires a lot of disk space, but it's a life...

Re: level for multitrack recording

When mixing tracks, the tracks are literally added together, so in most cases the mix will have a higher peak level than any of the individual tracks. When recording, we generally recommend aiming for a maximum peak level of around -6 dB (half the track height). This is the case whether recording ju...

The warning message says "5" orphan files, yet you previously wrote that the _data folder is "2GB in size". I don't know how this happened, but I'm guessing that most (or all) of the .AU files in the "ML_Oct 2019_data" folder are silent. If that's the case then there's ...

Re: editing mp3

You could use a "compressor" effect to even out the volume, for example: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/compressor.html If the volume changes are very great, then you may need something stronger, such as this "Level Speech" plug-in: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist...

Re: Audacity mp3's add length to saved files!

I made some short two bar loops of sounds, and saved the selected audio files as mp3's. When I opened each saved loop in Audacity, I couldn't help but see (and hear) that each file had additional space added on to it! There are two issues here: 1. MP3 always has a bit of "padding" at the ...

Re: Audacity recording over itself?

I didn't know there was a timer record. A very useful feature when you want to record a program that starts in the early hours. Waxcylinder has been successfully using Timer Record every week for ages to record one of his favourite shows. On the one Retina that is misbehaving, I have Loopback set u...

Is it possible to change a setting to seek and change pitch (Like you would warp the speed on a tape or record instead of skipping like a CD)?
That's more or less what "scrub" is supposed to do (though it doesn't work very well on my computer).

ML_Oct 2019.aup
There's no obvious problems with that file. It appears to have a little over thirty tracks, and the XML is valid.

When you've updated Audacity, try opening ML_Oct 2019.aup from "File menu > Open". Make a careful note of any error messages that occur.

When you left mouse click a label, it is opened for editing. To play the audio, you have to first press Enter (to exit edit mode) and then Space.
Or click on the Play button.
