Re: External sound problem
You need to turn off your microphone. Look in the Recording settings for your sound card (System Tray > Recording Devices).

Re: Exporting MP3 takes forever
I'm on Linux at the moment and it took 18 seconds to export as "01 - Box Car Racer - I Feel So.mp3" 320MBPS stereo to my Desktop using Audacity 1.3.14 alpha with Lame 3.98.4. I'm not able to test it on a Windows computer at the moment, but there does not appear to be anything wrong with th...

Re: Question re. adding effect to Chain
I guess the default chain.ny could be a NOOP dialog explaining the feature's usage. That's exactly what I had in mind. I also thought that it might be clearer and less alluring to the naive user if the name of the effect was "Chains" rather than "Batch". ;nyquist plug-in ;versio...

Re: How to get rid of sudden noises?
The problem is there are still a lot of loud but very sudden noises (coming from the things that were very close to the microphone while recording) that didn't go away with applying Noise removal -effect. What should I do to get rid of these? Probably nothing. I would expect that if you manage to g...

Re: fehler: not well-formed (invalid token)in zeile 6
Make a back-up copy of the file. Open the original file in a plain text editor (for example, NotePad or NotePad++) Look for the 6th line: <tag name="TRACKNUMBER" value="ã€"/> and delete it. Then save the file without changing the name or the extension. Audacity 1.2 do...

Re: Question re. adding effect to Chain
That's fantastic :D I had a bit of trouble applying the patch thanks to phpBB messing up the formatting of the code, but have now got it successfully installed. This feature could I'm sure be developed further (passing parameters would be the number 1 major improvement) but as it is now it is an ext...

Re: HELP: Audacity can't play audio
What are you trying to record from?
In Audacity, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices"
Do you have anything selected for "Recording" and "Playback" devices?

Re: Question re. adding effect to Chain
Thanks for your work on this Edgar. This sounds very encouraging.
I'll need a bit of time to play with this.

Re: External hardware for recording
I've noticed improved performance by using a non-system drive for recording with several programs including Audition and Cubase, but the only program where I've had to use a second drive is ProTools. There are also other advantages to using a second drive. Because recording will usually produce larg...
