Have you tried rebooting the computer and then using Audacity (and NOT opening any other DAW before using Audacity).

I then play the track using a generic windows music player and drum along to it while recording the drum sounds in Audacity. Loop info is often proprietary and specific to one range of products. Probably the most widely supported loop format is Acid Pro (Now owned by Magix - price around $150)
