Re: something like Adobe Audition's spectral analysis?

Oh, right - you want the advanced Spectral Editing tools. Unfortunately Audacity does not have those. They are a relatively new feature in Adobe Audition, and look pretty impressive. I think that the closest we can come to that is to use the non-free 3rd party plug-in " ExtraBoy ". There i...

Re: Lantecy Correction HELP!

"Software Playthrough" should be off (not selected). The quickest way to change that is from the Transport menu (near the bottom of the menu). Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Interface" and set "Meter / Waveform dB range" to -96 dB. This will not fix the problem, but i...

Re: Realtek HD Audio Input: Line or Stereo? or USB Audio Cod

The USB device needs to be connected to the computer and recognised by the operating system before you start Audacity, otherwise Audacity will not see the device.

Why are you using the Windows version of Audacity on a Mac?

Re: Noise only during speech

I believe my sound card/OS doesn't allow me to change the input level directly from audacity interface. But i can do it in the Control Panel. It's the sound into the microphone that you need to increase. With USB devices, increasing the volume in software (in the Control Panel) usually does the sam...

Re: CRASH - Too many plugins?

A quick and easy way to determine if it's your plug-ins that are causing the problem. Edit menu > Preferences > Effects Disable all plug-ins Restart Audacity. Does Audacity still crash? If not, go back into Preferences and re-enable ONE TYPE of plug-in (for example "Nyquist") and restart A...

Re: Draw Tool grid Idea

Going back to your "grid" proposition, I think I prefer the dynamic yellow line to the static grid: http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=3435 In addition to using it with the Draw tool, I think it could be useful with the Envelope tool. Also, it is sometimes useful to be able...

Re: Noise only during speech

That's probably about as good as you'll get with that source material. You could use the Noise Gate (as suggested by Trebor) to make the "silent" parts more silent (or even totally silent) but it will not reduce the noise during the talking. The single biggest improvement that you can make...
