Re: something like Adobe Audition's spectral analysis?

Audacity does not do "real-time" processing.
You could try it in "Wavosaur" (Wavosaur is not open-source, but it is free and supports VST plug-ins).

I quite agree Timar.
If you feel strongly about this you may like to offer your feedback to the Audacity team via the "feedback" e-mail address on the main Audacity website: http://audacityteam.org/contact/

Re: no sound

If you have Audacity 1.2.6 (or earlier) I would recommend that you update to the current 1.3.13 version. The Audacity 1.2.x series is very old and the developers stopped supporting it years ago. You can get Audacity 1.3.13 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ There's a tutorial here for usin...

Re: Silent subliminal function

I have been asked about how to change the silent subliminal back into audible sound. I can't speak for "silent subliminals" made by other methods, but assuming that the method that I described previously was used: To "encode" the message (making it inaudible) the code was: (highp...

Re: not yet iplemented in a chain

"Command import not implemented yet". That's a general message from Chains when the requested effect/function cannot be found. Do you have the Change Speed effect in the normal Effect menu, and does it work? How did you install Audacity? Built from source code? Installed with a package ma...

Re: Recording issue-Keyboards,vocal sterile. Bass/guitar mud

Do you have some short samples of your recordings? (Don't be embarrassed that they don't sound as you would like - that's the whole point of this dialogue).
You've shown us the destination, but not where we're starting from ;)

Re: After compiling on a LFS audacity failed

Unfortunately that does not tell us much. I get those messages on Ubuntu 10.10, but then Audacity launches and works correctly. I'd suggest that you have a go at building from the current svn head (1.3.14) and see if that sorts out the problem. http://audacityteam.org/community/developers#svn If the...
