Re: Windows Registry Fix 7-Settings-
Support for recording sounds that are playing on the computer ( "Stereo Mix" ) is not available on many Windows 7 computers. This has nothing to do with Audacity, it is usually due to restrictions of the sound card drivers. In some cases, recording Stereo Mix is not completely disabled but...

The original post says "UFO202" (which unlike the "UCA202" does have a phono pre-amp built in).kozikowski wrote:You can't just plug a classic, high quality turntable into a UCA202

Re: Change sampling rate and export multiple Issue
Highly compressed (low sound quality but small file size) MP3s do not support high sample rates. The greater the compression, the lower the sample rate needs to be. If you're still getting that pop-up with the sample rate set to 44100 Hz you must be making very low quality MP3s. What MP3 settings ar...

Re: Making Audacity "just work" with qjackctl
Which exact version of Audacity are you using?
I've just been testing Audacity 1.3.14 alpha with Jack, and Jack support is gradually improving. I've updated the Audacity wiki with my observations http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Linux_Issues#JACK

Re: need advice on ideal recording settings
That's what I thought. A couple of things to consider: Regarding the Export format, it really depends on what you want to do with the recordings. To export a file that is a perfect copy of Audacity track(s), export as "32-bit float PCM WAV". Exporting as 24-bit is probably so close to perf...

Re: Audacity Project _data folder
When Audacity imports an MP3 file, it has to copy in the data as complex editing is not possible on MP3 encoded data. If the track is deleted then the data remains in the project file as it may be required by the "Undo" function. However, as Bill has said, when the project is closed, any u...

Re: VST plug ins
I am getting an odd faint clicking/popping sound after extensively editing ( cutting and adding time ) to an audio track. Any tips on getting rid of that would be appreciated. Try the "Repair" tool: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Repair Anyone know if Drumagog is supported by Audacity...

Re: How Do I Install the Local Help File?
Audacity 1.2 does not ship with a help file.
I highly recommend that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13. http://audacityteam.org/download/
The recommended Windows installer for Audacity 1.3.13 includes the full manual.

Re: Extracting audio from WMV files
FFmpeg currently only has partial support for Windows Media files. If the file refuses to import then you will need to find a third party format converter to convert the WMV files into a format that Audacity supports (such as WAV format).

Re: need advice on ideal recording settings
I import the recordings as AIFF files (instead of WAVs as AIFF files allow the incorporation of metadata into the file itself) at "Signed 24 bit PCM". I'm a little confused by this statement as I thought you were "recording" - or do you mean that you "Export" as AIFF S...
