Re: Distortion on recording to Line in (Win7)
Line vs Mic (concisely) Things like CD players and Tape decks for hi-fi separate systems have output levels that are often referred to as "Line level" (in the region of about 1 volt). "Line" inputs are generally stereo so as to accommodate stereo devices such as CD / tape players...

Re: Export Quality Problem
Variable bitrate can add a slight improvement in quality for the same file size (or smaller file size for the same quality), but the difference will be marginal. That depends on the type of audio. In some cases it can make a considerable difference. I agree that more commonly the difference is not ...

Re: Silent subliminal function
Sorry, I posted the wrong encoder. My last message should have had these two bits of code: The original encoder: (highpass8 (lowpass8 (mult (lowpass8 (highpass8 s 300) 7000) (hzosc 45000) (hzosc 59500)) 20000) 14000) and the decoder: (lowpass8 (mult s (hzosc 14500)) 8000) In fact, better code would ...

Re: Equal Loudness normalizing
Thanks for the test results Peter.
I've found a weakness in my equal loudness algorithm that should be fairly easy to improve.
I'm rather busy with work at the moment, but will post an update as soon as I get time.

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
Ok I just read more carefully the description of that item and it says it includes a windscreen! It's probably just a foam / sponge thing that you put on the end of the mic. I have a pair of T-Bone SC140 mics and find them really useful, though I had to have one of them replaced under warranty as i...

Note that the .ZIP version of Audacity 1.3.13 does not include the user manual, whereas the .EXE version does.

Re: Change sampling rate and export multiple Issue
If you set the "Project Rate" (bottom left corner of the main window) to 44100 Hz, then Export Multiple will automatically export at that sample rate.
