Re: Recording delay issues
If you look at the pictures in the Snowball manual, none of the people are wearing headphones. The usual way to record with this type of microphone does not involve monitoring the sound that is being recorded while it is being recorded. Just set it up and start talking/singing/playing. If you are re...

Re: 16 v 24 bit noise floor
At this time I can't think of a reason not to incorporate WASAPI into Audacity. I can think of one good reason, which is that the number one priority for the Audacity developers is to get Audacity 2.0 out (and that is well overdue). I bet that some of the developers will be itching to implement ful...

Re: Audacity crash when loading MP3
I'm using Linux Mint 10 x64 bit with Audacity 1.3.12 Beta and when I try to open an .mp3 file using File > Open nothing happens. Audacity just hangs. The Audacity developers write the source code for Audacity. They have no control over how Linux distribution maintainers (the people that put togethe...

Re: reduce size of mp3 files
someone will correct me. OK, I'll correct you ;) With Audacity 1.3.13 you can use "Chains" to import, and then re-export the files in a different format. However, without a bit more detail I can't say whether Audacity will be the best tool for this job. What format are the files currently...

Re: Recovery... PLEASE HELP
I very much doubt it. It's times like this when you need your backup copy of the project. We don't have enough information to be able to work out why it crashed, but to protect yourself from future tragedies, when you record something important, the first thing to do is to Export the recording as a ...

Re: Removing a 'glitch' from audio recording?
What surprises me is that there are several distinct "imperfections" in the recording that you have not mentioned tourofitaly, but you appear to be complaining about one particular "glitch" that no-one else can hear. I would expect some minor imperfections in a live radio broadca...

Re: Dithering
If you are ONLY doing cut/paste/trim/delete type editing, then it is best to leave it at 16-bit and turn off dither (in Preferences). All processing in Audacity is done with 32-bit (float) so it is definitely better to convert to 32-bit float format and enable dither if you are doing any processing....

Re: Error message.
I would recommend upgrading, or at least trying it. Audacity 1.3.13 is a lot more capable than 1.2.6 and I'm sure it won't take you long to get used to. Once you've been using it for a while I doubt that you will want to go back to 1.2.6 ;) You can have both versions installed at the same time and l...
