My friend sent me a folder which is compressed as to take up less space on yahoo mail. The folder is actually 170+MB but she compressed it into 5KB.. That's impossible. There is no way to compress 170 MB of audio data into 5 KB. You will need to contact your friend and ask them what they have done....

If you just recorded something make sure fade in is not activated in the effect menu. Fade is not a real time effect. Like all effects in Audacity it is only applied when you specifically select some audio and apply the effect. I don't imagine that Logikal would have applied an effect multiple time...

(Audacity 1.2.x does not have adjustable latency correction)

Check that the VST effect is designed for MacOSX. I don't think that VST effects that have been made for Windows will work on Mac OS X.

Finally, what's the exact version of Audacity you are using? (Help menu > About Audacity) The problem was caused by one or more illegal characters in the metadata, but I think that the latest version of Audacity (1.3.13) should be able to handle that problem.
