Re: Need help to tune Audacity recording with pulse audio
Let's do this a step at a time. Reboot your computer and do not open your web browser or any other application. Open Audacity and set the recording and playback devices to "Pulse". Generate a 30 second tone in Audacity and click the Play button, then the Pause button. Open Pulse Audio Volu...

Re: My device toolbar is odd
To get the full 4 drop down boxes you need a more recent version of Audacity. If you're not wanting to upgrade Ubuntu just yet, you can add the Audacity PPA which will allow you to update Audacity to the latest version (1.3.14) https://launchpad.net/~audacity-team/+archive/daily If you don't want to...

Re: XENYX X2442USB
You don't want SigmaTel Audio - that's the computers internal sound card. To record from the USB you need to set the recording device to the USB option.Zhazzard wrote:Under "Device," SigmaTel Audio:
Ensure that the mixer is connected to the computer and powered up before you open Audacity.

Re: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 393
Once again, that isn't what I found when I tested this recently with German and East Asian characters on English Windows I was referring to the specific characters used in this example. The AUP file had the character "è" but the file is ANSI encoded, and this caused an "Invalid Token...

CSI is fiction. Even with state of the art equipment the results are unlikely to be much better.

Re: Cheap USB Simultaneous Multitrack Recording
You might also be able to create a 4 channel input port in jack to redirect the two sound cards to. I'm not really sure how to do it. I never tried or looked into that, but I have a feeling it could be possible... It turns out to be very easy. Create in/out ports for the second sound card with alsa...

Re: Removing background noise to amplify voice recording
Use the "Low pass filter" at about 5000 Hz, then use the "High Pass filter" at about 300 Hz.
It won't make a lot of improvement, but that's about as good as it gets. You're trying to do the audio equivalent of trying to un-mix a Martini.
