Re: No device found on keyboard?

To record the keyboard, you need to plug an audio output on the keyboard to a "line input" on the computer. Look on the back of the computer and there may be a line input there. The headphone socket is for playing music, not recording music. If there are color coded sound card sockets on t...

Re: Play too fast?

I assume that this is a setting or file formatting issue, It's most likely a file format issue. I'm guessing that you have Audacity 1.2.6? Audacity 1.2.6 only supports a few file types, and compressed files that are not of a supported type will play incorrectly (as if they are playing super fast). ...

Re: weird crackling and white noise

Finally figured out what it was. It was the power supply for my laptop. [Thanks, Koz.] As soon as I unplugged it and ran on just batteries, the problem went away. Does that imply that my power cord is bad, or my laptop battery, or both? [I'm pretty sure my battery is shot, as it hasn't held juice f...

Re: Vocal Removal Problems

The Vocal Remover(for centered-panned vocals) effect is basically the same as the "split and invert" method. The only difference is that recent versions of the Vocal Remover effect also have a feature for limiting the frequency range that the effect is applied to. This additional feature d...

Re: Audacity hangs when loading MP3

So what exactly is/are the problem(s) with the standard Mint version of Audacity? You initially reported that Audacity hangs (freezes) when importing an MP3 file. Is that the only problem that you have with that version of Audacity? When using the standard Mint version: Does Audacity hang when impor...

Re: No device found on keyboard?

What audio inputs (physical jack sockets) are there on your computer? Is it a laptop computer?
When you plug something into an audio socket on the computer, is there a pop-up notification that something has been plugged in?

Re: Left & right channels reversed

Can we break this down a bit: The file from Koz plays correctly in Audacity? The file from Koz plays correctly in iTunes? An Audio CD plays correctly in iTunes? When copied into iTunes, the track from the same CD still plays correctly? When the track is transferred from iTunes to Audacity, the chann...

Re: does a VST like this exist?

There's 2 ways of looking at a compressor - either it's pushing down from above (and then amplifying the result back up), or it's pushing up from below. Either way it's doing the same thing which is to reduce dynamics.

A compressor may not achieve the result that you want, but it's worth trying.

Re: Combining/Linking Delta 1010LT cards

Do you know how to setup aggregate devices in VAC for multi track recording? Sorry, it's a long time since I've played with VAC, and back then I was using CoolEdit rather than Audacity. I mostly work on Linux these days. I've posted something about using multiple sound cards on Linux here: http://f...

Check that again - there may be two mute buttons, one in the recording section and one in the playback section. If there are, mute them both.
