Re: Changing the speed of audio
Select the track that you want to change, then either: Effect menu > Change Speed or Effect menu > Change Tempo. The "Change Speed" effect gives the best sound quality, but the pitch will also change along with the speed. The "Change Speed" effect will maintain the original pitch...

Re: Remove Q setting from high-pass / low-pass filters
I have a marginal preferences for "roll-off". Is there any precedent elsewhere in Audacity? Number<space>dB is I believe correct as now. I see that's the case in the manual though there is inconsistency in other plug-ins. "Leveller", "Equalization" and "Truncate Si...

Remove Q setting from high-pass / low-pass filters
As illustrated in this post the "Q" setting in the high-pass and low-pass filters is a source of confusion. For the vast majority of user cases, the Q setting should remain at the default (0.7071) as this produces the most accurate 12dB per octave roll-off without accentuating frequencies ...

Re: Ringing Noise
What I read was in one piece of literature it referenced something about a 0.7 setting being either too high or too low not sure which. That's either the high-pass filter or the low-pass filter. Both of these effects have an option called "Filter quality [q] for 12 dB rolloff:" Both of th...

Re: Opening Audacity
I think that message is produced by your operating system rather than Audacity.
What operating system are you using?
Are you an administrator of that computer?
Where did you get Audacity from?

Sorry I don't remember. (Audacity 1.2. is really old).
Audacity 1.3.13 will save the layout that you create. http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: copy and paste
Are the harmonies on their own separate audio track, or are they mixed in with other sounds?

Perhaps you applied too much "Noise Removal".
Perhaps you read something in one of the Tutorials?

Re: Pitch shift voice
Record yourself (or someone else) speaking with as low pitched and monstrous voice as you/they can - then pitch shift it down just a couple of semitones lower.milasudril wrote:I want some understandable monster speech.
A bit of voice acting will sound much better than trying to get an effect to do all of the work.
