Re: 1.3.13 crashes when opening .caf file

It crashes Audacity on Linux.
I've not found any program on Linux that will touch it.
Typical behaviour from the corporate giants.

Re: Append record anywhere a second track

If you don't move anything, they play just exactly like a single track, right? No matter how many splits you have? Koz In theory, yes. In practice I've noticed that on some machines split lines may cause a slight click during real-time playback (which I suspect is a quirk of the sound card as it do...

Re: New laptop configuration (recording from decks)

Assuming that you have the hardware set up correctly (correct input etc.) and you are still getting too high a level, then go into the Windows Control Panel and in the "Sounds" section, set the recording level. (some information here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#...

Re: Append record anywhere a second track

Split lines work fine in Audacity 1.3.13 (there may have been a problem in 1.3.10). If an audio track is "split" (one "split line" at some point in the track), then the audio becomes 2 separate audio clips on the same audio track, rather than one continuous piece of audio. Adding...

Re: No recorded location

You don't need Lame to Export a WAV file. You only need Lame for Exporting MP3s. For making CDs, forget about MP3s and Lame. Export as WAV. "Save" produces an "Audacity Project", whereas "Export" produces an audio file in the selected format (you want the format to be &...

Re: Recording Problems using Griffin iMic and Audacity

If I understand this correctly the pins 2 and 3 float relative to ground and act like a twisted pair in telephone lines. Pin 1 is connected to ground and a shielding mesh or sleeve around the outside of the signal pair. The actual signal is taken from the difference between the floating cables, so ...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8

Your e-mail program is still running in the background. If possible set Incredimail to not start on boot up, or shut down incmail.exe and ImApp.exe when recording. They don't appear to be using much CPU, but they will probably kick in periodically to try and check for new mail. If you've not done so...

That setting is now in "Edit > Preferences > Tracks" (Update display while playing).
Do you have a web link for where it says "the Interface preferences"?

Re: Ancient Winfax / Talkworks files are .wav

The WAV files may be GSM 6.10 encoded WAV files.
This format may be supported by Audacity 1.3.13 if you also install FFmpeg.
