Re: Large remaining time estimate when exporting MP3
One possibility is that you are running of of hard drive space. Check that you have several gigabytes of free space on your hard drive. (Windows should always have a minimum of 10% free space at all times). You may be using an incompatible version of Lame. Remove (uninstall or delete) any existing v...
Re: add sound
You'll need to get into a lot more detail. What version of Audacity, which Windows, what do you want to add to what? Do you mean you want to record other sound, or import other sounds? See here for getting started: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Getting_Started The recommended version of Audacit...

Change Host to ALSA and restart Audacity.
What options do you then have in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" for Recording Device and Playback Device?

Re: Oversampling in raw data
That's getting there Wolfgang, though I think the sample rate is more like 44100Hz than 48 kHz.
Do you have any idea what those clicks are (every 350 ms)? An issue with the scanning?
After applying a 50 Hz high-pass filter and "Repair" on those clicks, it is really shaping up.

Re: Text Envelope
I've changed the Examples screen to make it more clear what the Intermediate Control Points do: "EXAMPLES: For a linear fade out, set: Initial Amplification = 100 (%) Final Amplification = 0 (%) and no Intermediate Control Points. For a smooth fade to half volume, try setting: Time Units = % In...

Re: Text Envelope
There is a minor typo in red Doh! (and the number of times that I've read through it). should you say what the fade shape is or what the control points achieve? I thought I'd done that with the adjective "swell". I've run out of room on that help screen to add more description (unless you...

Re: alarm sound
I wanted to generate tone, say around 500mhz and then have it go up to 900 and repeat I don't think you really mean "500mhz" - perhaps 500 Hz? You can create a single rising tone using "Generate > Chirp" The generated tone can then be repeated by selecting the generated tone, th...
