Re: ?? HELP! Newbie needs directions for FLAC Files!
I just want to be able to download music for my Grandchildren, and burn it to disc, to play for them! The easiest way would be to install the excellent (and free) CD burning program CDBurnerXP http://cdburnerxp.se/en/home It supports Flac files without needing to convert them first (and many other ...

Re: Input device as wav
Where is the "song" that you want to record? Is it a file? Is it an Internet "Radio" station?

Re: Ubuntu 11.04 and ntfs. very slow
Audacity writes data as a lot of small files, so even though the NTFS drive is reasonably quick with large files it may not be performing very efficiently with lots of small files.
Did you try Audacity with the default installation before you started customising it?

That IS the problem.sirvenue wrote: This is not the actual problem though.
I don't know how you've done it, but that is Audacity 1.2.x and not 1.3.13.
Are you running the old 1.2.6 Windows version with WINE?

Re: Determining Length of narration recording
If you're using Linux then it's highly unlikely that you are using Audacity 1.2.x (you've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x > Linux part of the forum).
You could set a label as a visual indication of where you want the recording to end. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Label_Tracks

Re: Sufficient volume when recording
I'm still using Amplify out of habit, but I'm training myself to use Normalize as it has DC offset removal.
I only get a very tiny amount of DC offset from my sound card, but I may as well get rid of it at the same time as Normalizing.

The version number needs to be 3 numbers, for example "1.3.10"shawnn452 wrote:version 1.3
Look in "Help > About Audacity" for the full version number.

Good idea. Ye olde 1.2.6 version is getting a bit flaky on modern machines.Smartlass wrote:I'm going to switch over to the Beta exclusively

Re: Couldn't find newbies post here for Q's & A's
All I require to know is how would I get rid of a lead guitar sound using this program? Is it just like getting rid of the vocals or is it something entirely different? Yes it's just like getting rid of a lead vocal. If the recording is stereo and the sound that you want to remove is dead centre in...
