Re: Problems with surround channels
For 5.1 WAV files I thing the correct channel mapping would be to put:
song 1 to channels 1 and 2
song 2 to channels 5 and 6
For AIFF files I think it needs to be
song 1 to channels 1 and 2
song 2 to channels 4 and 5
song 1 to channels 1 and 2
song 2 to channels 5 and 6
For AIFF files I think it needs to be
song 1 to channels 1 and 2
song 2 to channels 4 and 5

Re: Trimming almost-silence from the beginning and end of a
If there was some option like "Truncate silence below X dB if above Y seconds" that would probably work well. You're in luck. Use "Effect menu > Truncate Silence" Set "Min silence duration" to set the minimum length that the silence needs to be in order for it to be tr...

Re: Output is missing!
Do you still have the Audacity Project? Does the Audacity Project play correctly? Exactly which version of Audacity do you have? (Look in "Help > About Audacity" for the full version number) Does the project include Imported files as well as recordings? Is it some of the imported sections ...

Re: PLEASE HELP
You've got just about everything against you. The file is MP3 - bad because the sound is already mashed up by the MP3 encoding The file is mono - that's why it becomes silence when you run the voice removal effect. You are on a Mac so you can't use the Extraboy or Voice Trap plug-ins. I don't know o...

Re: Trimming almost-silence from the beginning and end of a
I saw something mention a "Truncate Silence" effect, which is very close to what I'm trying to get, but I only want silences at the very beginning and very end to be removed. (well, much is not complete silence, but is still quite soft.) Are there "silent" parts within the recor...

Re: AT2020 USB Condenser Microphone
I can hear what you mean.
Are you sure that you are set up to record from the AT2020 and not from a built in microphone on your laptop, or from an attached webcam?
(If you gently run a fingernail across the wire mesh grill on the microphone it should be recorded as a loud scratching sound)
