Same problem using OSX.5.8, only after saving the project to the desktop, what then? At some point you have to save it as a WAV file, right? And I get the same "Cannot export to Volumes/Audacity/1.3.1.3" Export it somewhere that you can write. Where do you normally put your music files? (...

When i play it, or the test file i made in audacity wheres i say front left and so on to each channel the three front ones works great but the back speakers dosent sound at all in quicktime and in VLC they are heared trough the front ones. It sounds like there is a set-up problem for your surround ...

If you use Windows than you can only record from one USB microphone at a time.

I've got one idea of what may have caused the problem:
Look in "Edit menu > Preferences > Import/Export.
What do you have set for "When Importing audio files"? Is it set to "copy (safer)" or "read directly (faster)"?

1) Check that you have plenty of free disk space. 2) Don't close the project file yet - in fact, make a back-up copy of the project by using "File > Save As" and give it a new name. 3) Check again that the Audacity Project plays correctly, then Export as a WAV file. Does the WAV file play ...
